Dusk from my studio window as seen through the birch by the waterlily pond. This is looking north, and you can see that in summer the sun is doing an almost complete circle around the sky. It never really gets dark during midsummer if there are no clouds. Dusk turns into dawn a few hours later with not much of night in between.
There is always the day in June, when you go to turn out the lights to go to sleep, and you realize that the lights never got turned on. I used to sleep with a pillow on my head until I got used to it. If you wake up and its glaring sunlight it may only be 4:30am, so its best to check the clock before you get out of bed. Summer is the hyper active season, while winter is for hibernation, for animals as well as people.
