Living in Rīga, on snowy winter weekends I would drive to the woods to start skiing just after the sun started rising at 9:00am. This far north there are only a few hours of daylight in winter, so I had to get back to the car by 3:30 at the latest. This is a photo of the blue light of late day as I was sprinting to the car. 

Now I moved to the countryside and can ski as soon as I walk out my front door on  groomed cross country trails. I ski during the day and work evenings, and am getting quite picky about not bothering to ski if the snow is not perfect and the sun is not shining. Its so nice to be able to afford to do that.
