This is my very first attempt at a hoodie. Its boiled wool, so calculating the shrinkage is theoretically easy, but the wool has a life of its own. The sleeves came out way too long, so I cropped them and blanket stitched the edge, however the body of the jacket came out on the short side. This jacket is perfect if you are not too tall, or if you like a cropped length jacket. See if the measurements work for you.

A friend gave me some wooden buttons that he made, and I was looking for a way to use them. So I designed the perfect vehicle, a boiled wool hoodie jacket for autumn and winter. Knit with wool, silk and cotton, and then washed on a cotton cycle at 60 degrees Celsius, that's 140 Fahrenheit, so not quite boiling but plenty hot. The wool shrinks and felts making this wind proof. Water sheds off, but even when wet wool is still warm. Easy to care for, just toss it in the washer and dryer.

I made the sleeves long so that you have to fold a cuff, but if you forgot your gloves you can cover your hands, and the buttons can be moved to add 3cm (1.25").

Size M/L

chest measured across a bit below the armhole - 56cm (22")
length from top of shoulder to hem - 60 cm (23.5")
center back to end of sleeve - 79cm (31")
