When I started living in Latvia and had a hard time finding a substitute for cranberry/orange sauce I started to make my own. At first I could not understand why someone would spend a day in the woods picking berries if you could just buy them for a few euro in the market. Now I cannot understand why someone would pay for berries if you can use them to justify spending a day in the woods. Picking berries is like rolling worry beads, stones, or a rosary between your fingers. It calms your world and feeds your soul.
