I decided to climb Kilimanjaro for my 50th birthday when I was a bit past 45. I figured it would make me one of the few women who looked forward to turning 50. A friend who had promised to come with remembered a few years later, and so we set out on an African adventure. 

We spent 9 days climbing, so that we would get acclimatized. Its 5,895m (19,340')to the top. We started the last climb at midnight, spent a quick 20 minutes on top, and then raced to get down below 3000m so noone got sick. This is sunrise on the glacier that sits on top.
