The waters around New Zealand are a bright turquoise azure blue that seems surreal. I try to explain to my friends in Latvia that its not a reflection of the sky, the water really is that intensely blue.

This photo is from a boat ride on the ocean on South Island. I did a lot of backpacking, called tramping locally. Everything is set up to make it enjoyable. A boat takes you to the start of the hike and then drops your backpack at the campsite you will hike to. The next morning the boat picks up your bags and brings them to the next camp, while you walk the distance with only a daypack. So very civilized.
