Alices are yellow plums on Siberian plum trees. They are delicious, but its next to impossible to cut the pits out if you want to make chutney or jam. I spent 2 days doing just that last year, promising myself, never again. I tell others and they laugh, been there done that, and then you forget and do it all over again.
