The first snow came in early October last year. Trees still had their leaves and the apple orchards were full of bright red, gold and green apples that ended up looking like ruddy faced elves wearing fluffy white snow hats. Absolutely magical. Every day I would see tracks in the snow of deer and wild boar as they grazed the apples. I had buckets of apples for myself that I sliced and dried in my bread oven. Crisp crunchy healthy snacks to keep me away from the candy jar:)
