I spent a week bicycling through Catalonia. They have an amazing system of jogging, walking, biking loops with exercise stations and heart monitors in each and every tiny village. The villages are so many and so close that most often you can go from village to village on the bike paths. They are full of families out exercising together. 

This is a beautiful ancient road in a Catalonian Medieval village. The rock pattern includes chevron channels for water run off. Thats my bike wheel in the corner.
